According to the Labor Department, new jobless claims — a measure of layoffs — totaled 1,109 for the week ended February 24, a decrease from the previous week’s total of 1,115.

The number of Americans filing new unemployment claims increased to 215,000 in the latest week, a 13,000 increase from 202,000 in the previous week on a seasonally-adjusted basis.

Weekly claims increased by 252.7% in Rhode Island, while new claims decreased by 64.3% in Oklahoma.
