Anna Wessel, aged 37, was shot and killed, and her husband, Anthony Wessel, aged 41, has been accused of second-degree murder.
On Monday afternoon, a man from Oregon entered the Oregon City police station and reportedly admitted to shooting his wife, resulting in her death.
On Tuesday, the Oregon City Police Department announced that Anthony Wessel, 41, had been taken into custody and accused of second-degree murder in relation to the passing of his wife, Anna Wessel, aged 37.
Police reports state that Anthony reportedly informed officers that the murder took place within the confines of the family’s residence in Oregon City.
According to the police, officers quickly went to the house and discovered Anna’s lifeless body. There was no one else present in the residence.
Anna’s cause of death was confirmed by prosecutors in court to be two gunshot wounds to the head, as reported by KPTV. The police have not disclosed any potential motive for the violent act. Anthony is currently in custody at Clackamas County Jail, but it is unknown whether he has entered a plea or hired a lawyer.
According to records from the court that KATU-TV obtained, the couple had been married for a total of 18 years.
Anna’s loved ones have started a GoFundMe campaign, mentioning that her children will be staying with other family members for now.
The fundraising page emphasizes that Anna was deeply loved and valued by her family, friends, colleagues, and the community.
