Alaska is as big as Texas, Montana, and California put together. It is the biggest state in terms of land area.

Alaska was the second-to-last state to join the United States, just before Hawaii. It is called the Last Frontier State. Juneau, the capital, is also one of the most dangerous cities in Alaska, ranking second on the list.

Many people are amazed by Alaska’s stunning nature and huge wilderness, including both residents and visitors. The biggest city in Alaska is Anchorage, which is located in the south-central area where almost half of the state’s population lives.

Alaska has 355 different areas called municipalities. These include towns, cities, boroughs, and more. Out of these, 148 are cities that have been officially incorporated.

The state has a high rate of violent crime compared to the whole country, with 8.23 incidents per 1,000 people. However, the state’s property crime rate is similar to the national average.

Here’s why there’s a list of Alaska’s most dangerous cities.

Anchorage

Anchorage has a population of 288,121 in 2021. The violent crime rate is 11.40 per 1,000 residents, while the property crime rate is 34.55 per 1,000 residents.

Anchorage is the biggest city in Alaska with 288,121 people. It has won awards for being a great city and for being tax-friendly. However, it has a lot of violent crimes and property crimes. This makes it one of the most dangerous cities in Alaska.

Bethel has a population of 6,642 people in 2021. The violent crime rate is 14.00 per 1,000 residents. The property crime rate is over 5% higher than the national average.

Bethel, Alaska’s western gem, is nestled along the Kuskokwim River and had 6,642 residents as of 2021. Its crime statistics, however, paint a less rosy picture. One of the highest in the state, Bethel has a violent crime rate of 14.00 per 1,000 residents—nearly twice the state average. Given the city’s compact size, this is particularly noteworthy. Overall, Bethel’s total crime rate is more than 5% higher than the national average. That’s why there is no escaping for Bethel to be one of the most dangerous cities in Alaska

Juneau

Juneau has a population of 31,973 in 2021. The violent crime rate is 8.69 per 1,000 residents, which is about 25% higher than the state average. The property crime rate is also above the state average.

Juneau is the capital of Alaska and has over 31,000 people living there. It is bigger than some states like Delaware and Rhode Island. Some parts of Juneau, like downtown and Lemon Creek, have more crime than others. The amount of violent crime is similar to the rest of Alaska, but property crime is higher in Juneau. This makes Juneau one of the most dangerous cities in Alaska.
